D4D: GlucaGen HypoKit

Aim of the Course:

To provide the support worker with the knowledge, skills and confidence to safely and competently care for a client during a serious hypoglycaemic event (very low glucose level) in which a GlucaGen HypoKit is required to be administered.

What will you learn?

This course will teach you how to:

  1. Identify when a person is having a severe hypo
  2. State how to keep the person safe during this event.
  3. Demonstrate how to mix, draw-up and safely give a glucagon injection using the GlucaGen HypoKit
  4. Follow-up with hypoglycaemia (hypo) treatment to maintain blood glucose level
  5. Document the hypo event.

Practice Pack

You need a practice GlucaGen HypoKit to use while you are doing the course. This will let you practice the technique taught in the course.

  1. Complete the course work and use the practice equipment to learn to use the equipment.
  2. Complete the end of course Quiz and achieve a pass mark of 95% or above (participants can repeat the quiz until they pass).
  3. After successfully passing all of the D4D Module quizzes, contact your Group Leader to arrange to do an Online Skills Check.
  4. Once your GlucaGen HypoKit technique is passed as competent, your certificate will be emailed to the Group Leader for their documentation. They then send it on to you.
