In this brave new world of COVID19 precautions, your diabetes education appointments will either be on the phone or using your computer.

Preparing for an appointment with your diabetes educator on the phone will help you make the most of the time to discuss your diabetes.

  1. Learn how to put the sound through your phone’s speaker. You won’t need to hold the phone to your ear – keeps your hands free to write things down.
  2. Put the volume of your phone up to high so you hear when Jayne calls you!
  3. Have your glasses (if you wear them), blood glucose meter equipment, log book and a piece of paper and pen all ready before the appointment
  4. Before the appointment, write down the questions you want to ask Jayne during your appointment
  5. Be ready to take the call at the appointment time

Follow these tips and you will be managing your online appointments with ease!

  1. Check your computer or tablet has a camera and the sound is working. If you aren’t sure how to do this, ask someone in your family or a friend to help you do this!
  2. Have your glasses (if you wear them), blood glucose meter equipment, log book and a piece of paper and pen all ready before the appointment
  3. Before your appointment, write down the questions you want to ask Jayne during your appointment
  4. Jayne will send you a link via email. Click on the link at the time you are due for your appointment.
  5. Jayne will already be on her computer and will accept you into the online consulting room.
  6. You will be able to see and hear Jayne on your computer and she will be able to see and hear you as long as all of the equipment is working!
  7. Be ready to take the call at the appointment time
